Overview
We are looking for a Data Architecture Manager to help lead Electric Boat’s transformation toward a modern, scalable, AI‑ready data ecosystem. This is not a role focused solely on creating data models or maintaining existing data structures. Instead, we need a leader who can bridge our current environment and our future state—someone who understands how to work within a complex legacy landscape while designing and implementing a modern data foundation that supports analytics, AI, automation, and next‑generation applications. Â
This position requires a forward‑thinking architect who can balance pragmatism with innovation: knowing when to modernize, when to integrate, and when to redesign—while ensuring stability for mission‑critical operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating a large enterprise, influencing across organizational boundaries, and translating business goals into practical, actionable technology and architecture decisions.Â
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Data Architecture & StrategyÂ
- Develop and evolve the enterprise data architecture strategy in alignment with business and technology objectives.Â
- Define target-state data architecture and practical transition paths from current to future-state environments.Â
- Establish architecture principles, standards, patterns, and governance that promote scalable, consistent, and secure data solutions.Â
Build the Foundation for AI and Advanced AnalyticsÂ
- Define the data architecture required to support the organization’s AI and machine-learning strategy.Â
- Help establish trusted, accessible, well-governed data that can be effectively used by analytics and AI teams.Â
- Partner with data science, AI, product, and business teams to understand emerging data requirements.Â
- Evaluate new technologies and architectural approaches for data platforms, AI, real-time data, data products, and analytics.Â
- Help ensure that data is discoverable, appropriately governed, secure, and usable across the enterprise.
Lead and Develop a TeamÂ
Â
- Build, lead, and mentor the Data Architecture team, advancing EB’s modeling, ontology, integration, and metadata capabilities.Â
- Provide clear direction while empowering architects and engineers to solve complex problems.Â
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
- Significant experience in data architecture, enterprise architecture, data engineering, or a related technology discipline.Â
- 8+ years of experience in IT, data-focused technical roles, or enterprise systems.Â
- 4+ years of supervisory experience
- Experience partnering across enterprise, solution, application, infrastructure, security, and AI architecture domains.Â
- Experience developing enterprise data strategies and multi‑year technology roadmaps.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret securityÂ
Preferred:
- Experience with modern data platforms, data lakes/lakehouses, streaming architectures, APIs, and event‑driven architectures.Â
- Experience supporting AI/ML, generative AI, or advanced analytics initiatives.Â
- Experience with data governance, data quality, metadata, master data, and information management.Â
- Experience with semantic layers, ontology development, or enterprise modeling.Â
- Experience working in complex, highly regulated enterprise environments.Â
- Experience with cloud‑based data platforms and modern data architecture patterns.Â
- Experience defining target‑state architectures and building transition roadmaps.Â
