Chaplain

Established in 1909, George Junior Republic and its affiliates provide opportunities for success and wellness to the individuals, families, and communities served.

Duties:

• Provide chaplaincy service to persons served (this includes male and female youth and adults), including supporting the spiritual welfare and offering religious guidance. 
• Build relationships of trust through visits to units/programs. 
• Create and foster an atmosphere of friendliness to ensure and promote a trusting environment.
• Plan, develop, and lead bi-monthly weekend worship services for both youth and adults served. 
• Ensure worship services are nondenominational and welcoming. 
• Organize a diverse spiritual program to meet the need of all person served. 
• Visit youth assigned to the secure detention program and provide them spiritual guidance and education as needed.
• Offer and lead religious classes as needed/requested. 
• Serve a resource for persons served seeking greater spiritual awareness.
• As needed, attend weekend visitation to meet with families of those served. 
• Provide a generalized monthly schedule defining office/campus hours and a schedule of services. 
• Respond to requests to individual meetings from persons served. 
• Collaborate with staff, managers, and directors across campus. 

Additional Requirements: 

• This is a part-time or contracted position, between 10-20 hours per week.  
• Flexible schedule
• Must be able to pass background checks.
• Age 21 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
