Provides repair, maintenance, and construction services to ensure the environment of the hospital and its clinics are safe, comfortable, and functional.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and performs preventive maintenance on advanced and specialized building systems/equipment at journeyman level with little or no supervision needed.
    • Interfaces with suppliers and/or vendors to assist in troubleshooting problems and in identifying corrective actions.
    • Effectively plans, organizes, and executes repairs and projects with little or no supervision in one or more areas of expertise.
    • Directs project work teams with good leadership skills, obtaining the best of assigned projects.
    • Documents work performed and changes made to building systems and equipment.
    • Reduces costs through effective use of tools, parts, information, and skills.
  • Constructs new areas and remodels existing areas at journeyman level with little or no supervision required.
    • Constructs new areas and remodels existing areas, meeting budget and time requirements.
    • Effectively plans, organizes, and executes construction projects with little or no supervision in one or more areas of expertise.
    • Directs project work teams with good leadership skills, obtaining the best execution of assigned projects.
    • Documents work performed and changes made to building systems and equipment.
    • Reduces costs through effective use of tools, parts, information, and skills.
  • Conducts fire drills and life safety inspections.
    • Fire drills are properly conducted and documented.
    • Conducts fire drills as a positive learning experience for participants.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School or GED

Licensure

  • Valid Drivers licensure (ability to be covered by hospital insurance)

Experience:

  • 3 years as a journeyman craftsman in building trades or as a mechanic
