Job DetailsJob Location: Harrisonburg, VA 22802Position Type: Part TimeJob Title: Intercultural Peer Mentor Department: Intercultural Programs Supervisor: Christina Harrison Employment Type: Work Study or Work Program; Part-time, hourly, non-exempt Pay Range: $13.00 - $13.00    Job Summary: The Student Employee is responsible for assisting the staff in the assigned department. The Student Employee position will focus on administrative support, learning support, or specialized support while offering educational and career growth.   Duties/ Responsibilities: Plan and facilitate a student event monthly that promotes student engagement in Intercultural Learning Present in classes, clubs and student events about Intercultural Programs and the benefits of intercultural engagement Make suggestions to the Director about outreach efforts and possible publicity initiatives Assist with ICP events and promotion Perform general administrative responsibilities in support of the department/office/campus. Complete department-specific projects as assigned. Attend the workplace regularly as scheduled, report to work punctually, and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite. Support the values of the University. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned Required Skills/Abilities: Good planning skills Creativity  Willingness to work as a member of a team and work independently Has a genuine desire to help their peers engage in intercultural learning Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Willingness to ask questions. Understanding of basic department procedures and goals. Ability to maintain a level of professionalism during working hours. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to make entry-level decisions. Be currently enrolled as a student at EMU.   Education and Experience: High School diploma. Completed either ICSSC 211, 202, or participated in an EMU intercultural travel program   Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.
