What You’ll Do
As a Laser Operator, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC laser cutting equipment used in the fabrication of metal components and assemblies. You’ll execute production schedules, monitor product quality, and ensure parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
In this role, you will:
- Operate CNC laser cutting equipment, including Amada and similar laser systemsÂ
- Load and unload raw materials using approved material handling equipmentÂ
- Set up jobs according to production schedules, work instructions, and program requirementsÂ
- Execute laser cutting programs accurately and efficientlyÂ
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and production documentationÂ
- Monitor machine performance and cut quality throughout production runsÂ
- Inspect finished parts to verify compliance with specifications and quality standardsÂ
- Sort, label, identify, and stage completed parts for downstream operationsÂ
- Perform machine setup verification and material alignment activitiesÂ
- Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring instruments and gaugesÂ
- Make basic machine adjustments to maintain quality and production efficiencyÂ
- Report program errors, equipment issues, and quality concerns to supervisors and programming personnelÂ
- Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance activitiesÂ
- Maintain accurate production records and documentationÂ
- Support inventory control and material tracking activitiesÂ
- Troubleshoot minor equipment and process issuesÂ
- Collaborate with Laser Programmers on process improvements and production concernsÂ
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiativesÂ
- Assist in training new operators and supporting workflow continuity
Requirements
What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a dependable manufacturing professional with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain quality and productivity in a fabrication environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GEDÂ
- Minimum one (1) year of CNC machining, manufacturing, or industrial production experience preferredÂ
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentationÂ
- Basic understanding of CNC machine operation and manufacturing processesÂ
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilityÂ
- Ability to perform quality inspections using measuring instrumentsÂ
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standardsÂ
- Effective verbal and written communication skillsÂ
- Strong organizational and time-management skillsÂ
- Ability to work independently and within a team environmentÂ
Preferred Qualifications
- Laser cutting experienceÂ
- Sheet metal fabrication experienceÂ
- Experience operating Amada or similar CNC laser systemsÂ
- Experience utilizing precision measuring equipmentÂ
- Lean Manufacturing and 5S experienceÂ
- Experience supporting production schedules and manufacturing operationsÂ
Your Work Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Schedule may vary based on production requirements and operational needs. Flexibility may be required to support manufacturing operations.
