About the Role
We’re hiring a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) to join our team in North Carolina. In this role, you’ll help individuals in recovery by providing peer support to improve self-care and community living skills. You will work under the supervision of the Clinical or Regional Director, promoting recovery, self-determination, and mental wellness through evidence-based care. This is an empowering, client-focused position ideal for someone in recovery who is passionate about supporting others in their recovery journey.
Responsibilities
- Act as a role model to individuals in recovery, inspiring hope through personal experience
- Facilitate the development of wellness and self-worth in clients
- Model recovery processes and demonstrate coping skills
- Engage at-risk individuals and provide stage-appropriate recovery education and supports
- Utilize evidence-based practices and the leveling system to support clients' progress
- Travel approximately 50% of the time to meet with clients and participate in community services
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- At least 12 months of paid or volunteer work experience in the past three years (not necessarily consecutive) OR one year of post-secondary education totaling 24 credit hours
- Certified Peer Support Specialist in North Carolina
