Job Description:

Airbus Commercial  is looking for a Senior HRIS Specialist

 to join our team inone of the following locations:

  • Herndon, Virginia
  • Grand Prairie, Texas
  • Mobile, Alabama
  • Wichita, Kansas
  • Miami, Florida

In this role you will serves as a strategic product owner and technical project lead for the HR business strategy and initiatives of North America. This position exists to translate complex human capital strategies into robust, automated enterprise technology solutions that enhance the employee experience, uphold regulatory data compliance, and support North America operational growth while aligning with global digital standards.

 

The Senior HRIS Specialist will closely collaborate with stakeholders and senior members and will report to the Director HRIS for North America.

Your Challenges:


Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Functional Product ownership and release governance: 45%


    • Serve as the senior functional Product Owner and tier 2 subject matter expert support for core modules across the Workday HCM ecosystem including Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence Management, Time Tracking, and Payroll.
    • Manage and prioritize the functional roadmap and backlog translating complex business requirements from the Centers of Excellence (CoEs), Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) and senior leadership into prioritized user stories, detailed configuration specifications, and end-to-end business process workflows.
    • Direct the evaluation, regression testing, validation, and adoption of biannual Workday releases and continuous feature updates; assess operational impact on business processes and advocate for relevant enhancements.
    • Oversee system defect resolution and complex issue triage by analyzing root causes and partnering with the IT teams and Workday support to resolve escalations.

Technical Project Management, Deployment Execution, and Governance: 30%


    • Lead and coordinate complex technical HRIS projects from initiation through post-go-live stabilization, including major module deployments, tenant consolidations, acquisitions, operating model transitions, and system enhancements.
    • Author, govern, and maintain rigorous project documentation, including project charters, integrated project schedules, work breakdown structures, risk/issue registers, stakeholder management plans, and cutover roadmaps.
    • Facilitate steering committee meetings and cross-functional working sessions with relevant IT and business stakeholders to enforce delivery milestones, clear operational bottlenecks, and maintain compliance with enterprise architecture standards.

Testing Strategy, Release Validation, and Enablement: 20%

    • Architect, execute, and govern comprehensive testing strategies for ongoing project streams, module rollouts, custom integrations, and biannual tenant updates.
    • Partner with HR Operations, CoEs, and technical teams to author end-to-end test scenarios, coordinate regression testing cycles, facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and validate cross-system data integrity.
    • Design and conduct advanced functional enablement sessions and training workshops for HR team members, managers, and employees to foster system adoption, process consistency, and optimal self-service utilization.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or Human Resources Management, Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, or Business Administration, or advanced academic specialization in Project Management or System Architecture.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 8+ years experience with HRIS implementations, specifically HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Time Management and Payroll.
  • Experience with Workday HCM Suite
  • Proven track record leading complex technical HRIS projects utilizing Agile or Waterfall methodologies preferred.
  • Prior experience managing Workday products, operating company mergers, or complex multi-entity transitions within a global aerospace, manufacturing, or defence environment preferred.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications

  • SHRM CP or SCP, PHR or SPHR
  • HRIS
  • PMP, PMI, PMI-ACP, CSPO
  • Workday Certification in Core HCM, Time, Benefits, or Payroll

Travel Required

  • 5% domestic and international

  • Authorized to Work in the US

  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Daily able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: Several times a week able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: Several times a week able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: Several times a week able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: Several times a month able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Travel: Rarely able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor

Salary range based on the required profile: $110,000 - $120,000 annually.   Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
