Job DetailsJob Location: Westchester Country Day School - High Point, NC 27265Job Title: Afterschool Care Staff Location: Westchester Country Day School – High Point, NC Department: Auxiliary Services / After-School Program Position Type: Part-Time (Monday–Friday, 2:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., during the school year) Reports To: Director of Auxiliary Services / Afterschool Program Coordinator Position Overview Westchester Country Day School seeks a dependable, caring, and enthusiastic Afterschool Care Staff member to join our Auxiliary Services team. This position plays an essential role in supporting students beyond the academic day by fostering a safe, structured, and engaging environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, demonstrates patience and professionalism, and is committed to helping students feel supported and valued. Afterschool Care Staff members serve as positive role models who promote personal growth, responsibility, and respectful interactions among students.   Key Responsibilities Supervise and actively engage students in grades Pre-K through 8th during after-school hours (2:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.). Provide attentive oversight to ensure the safety, well-being, and accountability of all students at all times. Lead and assist with a variety of age-appropriate activities, including structured games, arts and crafts, homework support, enrichment opportunities, and outdoor play. Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment that aligns with the school’s mission and values. Monitor student behavior and implement school expectations using proactive and positive behavior management strategies. Maintain accurate daily attendance records and follow established dismissal procedures. Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student needs and daily activities. Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure smooth program operations. Assist with the daily set-up, organization, and clean-up of the after-school care space and materials. Follow all school safety policies and procedures, including emergency response protocols. ​​​​ Qualifications High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree (or coursework) in education, child development, or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, or recreational setting strongly preferred. CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in an active environment. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative when needed.
