The positions will be responsible for coaching student-athlete/team strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Two positions are available for the winter season – November – February. Responsibilities include: Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the sport's rules, regulations, equipment, techniques, and tactics. Observe players during practice and competition to determine individual or team improvement needs. Determine game strategy based on the individual and team’s capabilities. Establish and maintain high standards of behavior and supervise athletes at all times. Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury. Observe school, league, state, regional, and national athletic program regulations. Model positive behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, parents, officials, and spectators – practice good sportsmanship. Employ nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Job Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required) Some experience as a basketball head/assistant coach at the middle school or club level is preferred, and/or some experience as a high school or collegiate player at a minimum. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must know the sport's rules, regulations, techniques, and strategies. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and student-athletes.
