Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. WE LOVE OUR WORK.

Your daily responsibilities include:

Promotes safety for personnel, guests and horses at the Zia Park Racetrack by performing the following duties:

  • Will be required to operate tractor and/or water truck on the racetrack. 
  • Maintain racing track in proper condition as required. Will be required to operate tractor and/or water truck on the racetrack.
  • May use other equipment as required.
  • Notify supervisor immediately of any problems/crisis/emergency.
  • Maintain cleanliness of facilities as needed.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment is in operating order.
  • All work to be performed taking appropriate safety precautions.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
  • Follow all cleaning, sanitation and PPE position specific guidelines

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set:

  • Must be minimum of 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be knowledgeable of the Rules of Racing.
  • Able to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills
  • Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                     

This job will not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required. Ability to speak and understand Spanish is an asset.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to catch loose or troubled horses while maintaining control of the pony being ridden.

The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.

 

The employee must regularly lift, push, pull and/or move up to 75 pounds and have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
