Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is looking for a Surgical TechĀ position workingĀ as needed (PRN) during the Day, in our Main OR.Ā The Surgical Tech demonstrates a clear understanding of sterile techniques and maintains a working knowledge of the specialized instrumentation and equipment required for a variety of special procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart thoroughly before the procedure.
  • Maintains an orderly surgical field and consistently passes instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
  • Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
  • Takes part in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
  • Maintains surgical specimens in a manner that identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
  • Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
  • May have limited access to areas where medications are stored.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of:
    • Surgical Technology training program; or
    • Baptist Health Training Program; or
    • An accredited physician assistant program

Licensure/Certification

  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
