About The Position | Major goals and objectives and location requirements

Located in Birmingham, Alabama, is the People Inc. Food Studios, a state-of-the-art facility featuring 28 test kitchens, 13 photo studios, a prop and styling studio, an outdoor grill/BBQ station and an expansive showcase kitchen and tasting room for demonstrations and events. Powered by a talented team of test kitchen professionals, stylists, and photographers, the People Inc. Food Studios is the country’s premier creative hub, producing thousands of world class recipes, images, videos  and related content annually for People Inc. print, digital, and social platforms.

The Test Kitchen Assistant will support the People Inc Food Studios Recipe Testers and Developers in recipe development, nutritional analysis, grocery shopping, video shoots, and taste tests across brands. The ideal candidate is a highly organized team player who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. This is a fully onsite position requiring daily physical presence in the studio. 

Full in office- Birmingham 

In-office Expectations: This position is a fully in-office role due to the nature of the work being done.

About The Positions Contributions:

Weight %Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

  • 30%:  Manage market order and grocery shopping; stock shared pantries and cold storage areas in the kitchens, working closely with the Test Kitchen Coordinator.

  • 30%:  Develop, test, and prepare recipes while writing engaging hooks, scripts, and on-camera dialogue for hosted social video content.

  • 30%:  Develop and test recipes across People Inc. print and digital brands. Deliver fully annotated recipes in style, including content deliverables, nutritional analysis, and photos for each project.

  • 5%:  Consult, as needed, on photo shoots to ensure that the food and recipes are being executed as intended. May also step in as a food styling assistant when needed.

  • 5%:  File all expense reports for accounting purposes.

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Education:

  • B.S. or B.A. and a culinary degree or extensive professional cooking experience.

Experience:

  • You are proficient with recipes: in writing according to style and able to troubleshoot a recipe just by reading it.

  • You have a strong knowledge of food, including a range of cuisines, techniques and equipment. 

  • You are social media savvy and excited about the digital space.
