What You'll Do

  • Support CMC’s commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and customer service
  • Prepare accurate and timely reinforcing steel estimates for projects being pursued by CMC
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from structural, civil, and architectural construction drawings
  • Estimate reinforcing steel, welded wire mesh, accessories, and other related materials
  • Review drawings, specifications, addenda, bid instructions, and other project documents to determine complete scope requirements
  • Interpret reinforcing steel plans, schedules and specifications
  • Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, unusual conditions, exclusions, and items requiring clarification
  • Track drawing revisions, addenda, and bid updates and incorporate changes into existing estimates
  • Review estimates for completeness, accuracy, and scope coverage before submission
  • Maintain clear and organized estimating files, takeoffs, assumptions, exclusions, and supporting documentation
  • Work closely with the Sales team to support bid strategy, project evaluation, and proposal deadlines
  • Prioritize multiple projects while maintaining estimating accuracy and productivity
  • Develop the ability to estimate increasingly complex projects with limited supervision
  • Maintain a working knowledge of CRSI and ACI standards
  • Participate in ongoing technical and estimating training
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Ability to read and interpret structural, civil, and architectural construction drawings
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn estimating and takeoff software
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Sales and other internal teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of CRSI and ACI standards
  • Proficiency or general knowledge of aSa Estimating
  • Experience using digital takeoff software such as Bluebeam, Plan Swift, or similar platforms

Your Education

  • Associate degree or Technical degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Drafting or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or 1–3 years of experience in construction estimating, reinforced concrete, detailing, or a related discipline
