Join Brown Sims' Houston office as a Legal Assistant with our Defense Base Act team and become a key member of our busy State and Federal Litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to support experienced litigators in a fast-paced insurance defense practice while working in a collaborative and team-oriented environment. How Will You Make a Difference? Provide litigation and administrative support to three or more attorneys. Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and reports. File legal documents electronically federal administrative law courts. Maintain attorney calendars and monitor court deadlines. Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and other case-related events. Manage case files and maintain accurate electronic and physical records. Prepare and organize litigation materials, exhibits, and case documents. Track and process incoming correspondence, court notices, and filings. Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors. Assist attorneys with day-to-day case management and workflow coordination. Prioritize multiple assignments while ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met. What Will You Bring to the Table? Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in a law firm environment. Experience supporting four or more attorneys simultaneously. Knowledge of litigation procedures; insurance defense experience preferred. Experience filing documents electronically. Knowledge of calendaring deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
