Logistical Data Services is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee daily inspection and operational activities while actively supporting field operations.
This is not a traditional office-only management position. Our Managers are expected to lead from the field and perform rail inspections, in-bay inspections, intermodal inspections, rework, and other operational services as needed, while also managing employees, completing reports, responding to emails, attending meetings, communicating with customers, and ensuring contractual and company standards are met.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is comfortable balancing field operations, employee management, customer service, technology, reporting, and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do
As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations while actively participating in field and customer-facing activities.
Field & Inspection Responsibilities
Perform rail inspections and other rail-related services as required
Perform in-bay vehicle inspections and quality inspections
Perform intermodal inspections, rework, and related services
Perform vehicle rework and other operational tasks as needed
Support additional customer services and operational assignments based on business needs
Inspect vehicles for damage, defects, discrepancies, and quality issues
Photograph and accurately document findings using company mobile devices and software
Ensure inspections and services are completed accurately and within required timeframes
Monitor inspection quality and ensure company and customer standards are followed
Step in and perform inspection work when staffing or operational needs require
Management & Leadership Responsibilities
Supervise, train, coach, and support inspection and operations personnel
Manage daily staffing, schedules, assignments, and operational coverage
Ensure employees are following company safety, quality, attendance, and operational procedures
Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and feedback
Conduct quality audits and review inspection results
Address operational issues and escalate significant concerns appropriately
Support employee training and onboarding
Ensure employees have the tools, equipment, and information necessary to perform their jobs
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and professionalism
Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports
Review inspection data and identify trends, discrepancies, and areas requiring attention
Maintain accurate operational records and documentation
Respond to emails and operational communications in a timely and professional manner
Participate in customer, management, and operational meetings
Communicate updates, issues, and performance metrics to company leadership
Assist with customer reporting and service requirements
Track productivity, quality, staffing, and operational performance
Ensure contractual requirements and customer expectations are being met
Use company software platforms to manage inspections, reporting, employee activity, and operational information
Assist with investigations, incident reporting, and corrective actions as needed
Customer & Operational Support
Maintain professional relationships with customers and site contacts
Respond to customer questions and operational concerns
Help identify and resolve service issues
Support implementation of new services, processes, and customer requirements
Assist with launching new locations, services, or operational programs
Perform other duties and services as assigned based on customer and company needs
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
High school diploma or GED
Reliable transportation
Previous leadership, supervisory, automotive, rail, logistics, transportation, inspection, or related experience preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to effectively manage employees while also performing hands-on operational work
Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, computer, and handheld technology
Strong attention to detail
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on operational and customer needs
Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
Pass a background check
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, including testing for marijuana
Physical Requirements
This position requires a combination of field work and administrative/management responsibilities and may require working outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the year.
Candidates must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods
Bend, kneel, squat, twisting, and reach repeatedly throughout the shift
Perform repetitive physical tasks
Work safely around moving vehicles, rail equipment, and other operational equipment
Enter and exit vehicles and rail equipment as required
Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
Safely perform inspections and rework activities in active operational environments
