Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: Houston, TX 77051Salary Range: $20.00 - $24.00 HourlyA Valve Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, testing, and maintaining industrial valves to ensure safe and reliable operation in facilities such as refineries, chemical plants, power plants, water treatment plants, and manufacturing sites.  Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide range of valves including gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly, safety relief, and control valves Disassemble valves for cleaning, machining, or part replacement Replace seals, seats, stems, gaskets, O-rings, packing, and other internal components Perform valve calibration and set pressure adjustments (for relief/safety valves) Reassemble and test valves using hydraulic or pneumatic test stands Identify wear, corrosion, leaks, or mechanical deficiencies and determine corrective actions Document repair findings, parts used, test results, and certifications Interpret P&IDs, isometrics, valve datasheets, and technical manuals Work with other technicians, inspectors, and engineers during turnarounds or shutdowns Follow all safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and facility procedures  Required Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial valves, and valve components Ability to use precision tools: torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, lapping equipment Skilled in troubleshooting leaks, sticking valves, broken seals, seat damage, and operational failures Familiarity with test equipment such as hydrotest pumps, air test rigs, and calibration tools Strong reading of technical drawings and valve specifications Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate repair records  Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required Technical/vocational training in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred 0 - 1 year of experience working with industrial valves (plant or shop environment) Qualifications
