Survey Technician – Construction Land Surveying Â

Survey Technician – Construction Land Surveying Position SummaryÂ
The Survey Technician – Construction Land Surveying role is responsible for providing advanced technical support for active construction projects, including survey calculations, boundary analysis, field data processing, QA/QC, and coordination with CAD and field teams.Â
This role supports the Construction Operations Manager and RPLSs by ensuring accurate, complete, and construction-ready survey deliverables and plays a key role in keeping projects on schedule.Â
This is an office-based position with frequent collaboration across field operations, CAD, and project management teams.Â
Schedule & LocationÂ
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.Â
- Occasional weekends during peak construction seasonÂ
- Reporting to: Houston, TX (77041)Â
Survey Technician – Construction Land Surveying Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Coordinate with Construction Field Operations Manager, RPLSs, and Field Operations to plan and support construction survey activitiesÂ
- Prepare calculation maps, control layouts, and field support documentation for construction staking and layoutÂ
- Review research packages, deeds, plats, easements, and title commitments for construction-related impactsÂ
- Process and adjust conventional and GPS data (horizontal and vertical)Â
- Perform boundary analysis and build subject/adjoining parcels in CAD to support accurate construction decisionsÂ
- Review field data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with project requirementsÂ
- Provide clear technical direction and calculations to CAD Drafters for final deliverablesÂ
- Conduct preliminary QA/QC reviews prior to RPLS submissionÂ
- Identify conflicts, gaps, or constructability issues and proactively coordinate resolutionsÂ
- Support consistency in drafting standards, point codes, and construction workflowsÂ
- Maintain client-specific requirements, templates, and drafting standardsÂ
- Assist with training and technical guidance for CAD staff during high-volume periodsÂ
- Communicate professionally with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues efficientlyÂ
- Adhere to all company policies, safety requirements, and professional standardsÂ
Requirements
 Survey Technician – Construction Land Surveying Required Skills and ExperienceÂ
- 2+ years of survey technician experience in construction and/or commercial land surveyingÂ
- Strong working knowledge of:Â
- Construction staking supportÂ
- Boundary analysisÂ
- Survey calculations and adjustmentsÂ
- CAD-based survey workflowsÂ
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple active projectsÂ
- Experience coordinating between field crews, CAD, and licensed surveyorsÂ
- Proficiency with survey software, CAD platforms, and cloud-based project toolsÂ
- Strong attention to detail with a production-oriented mindsetÂ
- Clear communicator who can identify problems and propose solutionsÂ
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or associate degree preferredÂ
- Valid driver’s license may be requiredÂ
