Summary
- This role involves providing strategic leadership for Adult Social Care commissioning services within a local authority. The position is crucial for ensuring the effective execution of major commissioning, procurement, and service transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will manage a large team, oversee significant contracts and frameworks, support market sustainability, and contribute to the strategic planning of commissioning services across the Council.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of intricate commissioning programs in Adult Social Care.
- Offer strategic oversight for high-value procurement and recommissioning projects.
- Promote continuous improvement, service innovation, and cost-effectiveness.
- Aid in the development of sustainable care markets and enhance outcomes for residents.
- Participate in strategic service planning and organizational development.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and comply with statutory requirements.
- Monitor risks, dependencies, and program performance.
- Develop and uphold program plans and governance structures.
Requirements:
- Significant experience in leading Adult Social Care commissioning services.
- Proven success in delivering complex commissioning and procurement programs.
- Experience in managing high-value contracts, frameworks, and service transformation projects.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing commissioning teams and staff development.
- Experience in local government, Adult Social Care, or public sector environments.
- Experience collaborating with senior stakeholders, providers, and partner organizations.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in commissioning, procurement, social care, public sector management, or a related field.

- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- Standard DBS required
