Use your animal care knowledge to help us care for animals like parrots, small mammals, reptiles birds of prey and more. Deliver memorable animal experiences to guests while educating them about the importance of conservation. Develop relationships and train animals for husbandry, enrichment and guest programs. Responsibilities

Be a Safari Off Road Adventure tour guide, knowing all the animal facts of the safari. • Be approachable, proactive and outgoing towards guests. • Have excellent communication skills. • Be a self-starter and in charge of own progression in position.• Adhere to all Six Flags and Safari Department policies and protocols.• Support our Save an Icon program by educating guests about the dire need for conservation initiatives. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by completing daily and weekly tasks.• Educate guests about the animals that are in your assigned zone. • Maintain excellent husbandry practices including cleaning, prepping and feeding diets, and animal behavior observations. • Know all speaking roles for our outreach program.• Complete readings and quizzes based on animal husbandry of the area, and operant conditioning practices.• Handle small mammals, and reptiles based on your position level and understanding of facts and protocols.• Care for domestic hoof stock species. • Keep excellent records using ZIMS software for animal care.

Qualifications

18 years of age or older.• Outgoing, approachable, and positive attitude.• Public speaking experience preferred. • Must have a valid driver’s license.• Be able to lift and move 50 pounds or more. • Be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, bend, crouch, or climb.• Must work holidays and weekends and no more than 1 weekend request off a month.• Be able to work 40 hours a week during the summer. • Be able to work in all weather conditions.ANIMAL EDUCATOR 1 QUALIFICATIONS:• Must have at least 1 year working with exotic animals or 2 years working with domestics. OR have completed 1 or 2 seasons/years of the Education Internship. • Understand the basic principles of operant condition and be able to apply the concepts within animal training. • Able to handle frozen animals for defrosting and feeding, complete small animal dissection, and feed, clean and handle insects
