Position Overview
Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent will be responsible for evaluating and onboarding new vendors, soliciting and reviewing vendor bids to ensure compliance and accuracy in accordance with the scope of work, architectural details, and budget. The Purchasing Agent role involves soliciting and negotiating bids, executing all necessary contractual documents, and ensuring vendor performance meets company standards. The ideal candidate will combine meticulous attention to detail with effective collaboration, providing critical support to both construction operations and accounting teams. The position requires a proactive, project- focused approach to manage change orders, project-specific exhibits, and budget adherence, ensuring all projects are set up for success from the earliest stages. As such, you will be expected to act as a Redwood brand ambassador, promote our brand, and provide the best resident experience possible.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Solicit, negotiate, and review contractor/vendor bids and ensure Redwood expectations and standards are adhered to.
- Create and execute all purchase orders and trade agreements prior to project start date maintaining department standards and expectations.
- Create and execute all relevant change orders.
- Create all project specific exhibits as assigned.
- Provide proper business justification for over budget contractual documents.
- Assist construction accounting as needed with invoice discrepancies related to contractual documentation.
- Collaborate with construction operations on cost analysis and budget creation for new projects.
- Collaborate with Director of Construction on vendor/contractor performance, quality, and costing data with existing companies plus assist in new vendor/contractor onboarding.
- Provide support to RCC team members for key administrative tasks.
- Attend and/or lead all relevant meetings as assigned.
- Visit active construction projects as directed.
- All other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or 2-3 years of related experience
- Strong negotiating skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Financial skills, particularly focusing on budget management
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- General computer proficiency, especially Microsoft office
- Valid Driver’s License
- Familiarity in estimating software
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, desk phones, cell phones, photocopiers, etc.
- Must be able to navigate stairs occasionally, particularly in the event of elevator outages or during emergency situations.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, stand, bend, and walk with the ability to lift 30 pounds occasionally.
Attendance and Scheduling:
- Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential for success in this role, and employees must adhere to set start times and assigned schedules.
- Travel expectations are 15%–25%.
Work Environment:Â
- Job is performed in-office and in construction environments.
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with regular exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and damp conditions.
- May occasionally be exposed to low-level noise from power tools and equipment.
- The employee is expected to be aware of and follow all company safety policies during travel and construction site visits.
- Exposure to varying indoor temperatures depending on location in the building and season.
- Combination of natural daylight and standard office lighting throughout the workspace.
- Movement across multiple flooring types, including tile, carpet, and other transitions.
- An open workspace layout, defined by a shared space without traditional enclosed offices or high-walled cubicles, may introduce distractions or reduce privacy.
- Possibility of shared desk spaces.
