The Heritage Group is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated intern to support our Accounting Team. This is a great development opportunity for someone interested in exploring a career path within accounting, finance, and business operations. As a member of the Finance Team, this person will work closely with accounting professionals and business partners while supporting a variety of accounting and financial processes. The Accounting Intern will gain hands-on experience through system enhancements and integrations, reporting activities, AI/automation projects, technical accounting research, and day-to-day accounting responsibilities that contribute to the success of the organization.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Help maintain documentation and prepare audit support materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders.
  • Leverage automation and AI tools to create efficiencies within the accounting process.
  • Assist in documenting operational accounting processes and controls.
  • Assist in building reporting functionality across Corporate Finance.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams (i.e., Treasury, FP&A, Tax) to provide recommendations on process improvements.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications
  • Required High School or Equivalent
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree Open to Rising Juniors and Seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution with a preference for a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field. Must demonstrate an understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.

Skills and Abilities
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and mindful of deadlines.
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, and willing to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are necessary to communicate effectively with management and business units.
  • Excel and Financial Software Skills (formulas, spreadsheets, data organization).
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems or ERP software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI tools is preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items and walk short distances.

The Heritage Group Internship Program provides hands-on, paid experiences in a corporate function or within one of our many operating companies. Interns can expect to network with other students and professionals, gain useful skills, receive mentoring, and make their own contributions to the organization. Additionally, interns can participate in our weekly hosted events focused on professional development, team building, and community service.

Intern pay is non-negotiable and is calculated based on current academic class standing $18/hour (Freshman) - $21/hour (Senior), etc.
