Job Title: Branch Credit Manager (BCM)

Role Overview

The Branch Credit Manager (BCM) is responsible forevaluating and underwriting secured business loan proposals, primarily LoanAgainst Property (LAP), while ensuring compliance with internal credit policiesand regulatory guidelines. The role involves independent assessment of borrowerrepayment capacity, property valuation review, risk identification, andrecommendation of quality credit proposals to support profitable portfoliogrowth.


Key Responsibilities

1. Credit Appraisal & Underwriting

  • Assess loan applications for eligibility, repayment capacity, and overall creditworthiness.
  • Analyse financial statements, bank statements, GST returns, income documents, and business cash flows.
  • Evaluate borrower profile, business stability, and repayment behaviour.
  • Conduct detailed credit risk assessment and prepare credit recommendation notes.

2. Property & Collateral Assessment

  • Review legal, technical, and valuation reports for proposed collateral.
  • Assess property ownership, marketability, and security coverage.
  • Identify risks related to title, encumbrances, and valuation discrepancies.
  • Ensure collateral adequacy as per lending policies.

3. Field Investigation & Verification

  • Conduct personal discussions with applicants and co-applicants.
  • Verify business operations, income sources, and end-use requirements.
  • Perform field visits wherever required.
  • Validate information submitted by customers and sourcing teams.

4. Credit Process & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to RBI guidelines and internal credit policies.
  • Maintain complete credit documentation and audit-ready records.
  • Monitor compliance with delegated authority limits and approval conditions.
  • Support internal, statutory, and regulatory audits.

5. Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management

  • Track portfolio quality and early warning indicators.
  • Review delinquent accounts and identify potential stress cases.
  • Recommend corrective actions for risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with collections and business teams for portfolio management.

6. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work closely with Relationship Managers, Operations, Legal, Technical, and Collections teams.
  • Provide guidance to sourcing teams on policy requirements and case structuring.
  • Support faster turnaround time (TAT) while maintaining credit quality standards.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduate / Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or Management.
  • CA Inter / MBA Finance / Relevant Credit Certification preferred.
  • 2–8 years of experience in LAP, Mortgage, Secured Business Loans, SME Lending, or Credit Underwriting with Banks/NBFCs.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis and secured lending products.
