The Merchandising Support Analyst / Promotions Analyst will be responsible for planning and accurately executing the last mile of pricing and promotions in a complex category totaling over $1.5B in sales annually. The Promotions Analyst will specialize in cigarette and tobacco promotions, programs and retail architecture, and facilitate information across multiple cross-functional and manufacturer teams to advance all aspects of and accurately execute retail pricing and promos as needed by the category team.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • On a cyclical (Monthly) and ad hoc (sales plan or category driven) basis, responsible for working closely with Category Managers to deeply understand the category intent of all pricing/promo activity and complexities of each state to price and promote within the business unit.
  • Use, maintain, and subsequently seek to augment the pricing tools currently used to determine pricing at both a macro, and granular level to maximize sales & profitability. Provide timely feedback and intel to Category team on discrepancies and/or risk with pricing/promotions submitted.
  • Routinely maintain pricing assignments for each store are maintained, accounting for monthly changes due to adjustments in price zones, elections, contract, and tax/regulatory changes.
  • Responsible and accountable for the creation of and maintenance of all cost support agreements to support current and planned activity that comply with Enterprise requirements.
  • Conducts post-execution validation and troubleshooting, inclusive of AAR (after action reviews) for any issues encountered during the pricing/promo execution process.
  • Participates in post-audit, and works cross-functionally with manufacturers, accounting, etc. to ensure accuracy of all pricing and promotional reconciliation.
  • Routinely generate and distribute standard pricing reports and contract store lists
  • Create ad hoc reports and participate in special projects as needed by Pricing/Promo Manager, Category Team, and/or Sr. Product Director.
  • Responsible for executing promotional setups and maintenance, to ensure monthly rebate funding for all eligible items accurately and timely flow down to store level.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Position requires high degree of collaboration.
  • Strong analytical skill/acumen. Role requires a high degree of excel reporting usage and interaction.
  • Competency with both standard and custom Business Intelligence systems, such as Power BI, Circana.
  • Position requires high school diploma plus 3 to 4 years experience with heavy PC usage. 
  • Previous Category Analyst experience / College education is also strongly preferred.
