Position Overview

Maintenance Supervisor assist in the planning, developing, implementing, controlling and supervising all plant maintenance programs to include buildings, equipment, coordinate work needed to keep plant in operations; establish good lines of communication between mechanical and plant operations; maintain an effective preventive maintenance schedule; and control mechanical inventories. Encourages good work habits and promotes safety. Develop a staff of competent personnel who can perform their job requirements satisfactorily.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying, developing and implementing maintenance programs or special projects that will result in achieving or exceeding established labor goals by recommending new methods, layouts and/or equipment changes.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of maintenance mechanics, providing guidance, training and support as needed.
  • Develop and implements maintenance schedules, plans work projects and assigns tasks to maintenance mechanics. 

Assist in the planning, developing and implementing of an effective preventive maintenance program in all production departments to minimize downtime and costs.

  • Assist in the planning, developing and implementing of a parts inventory control program which provides dollar value and status inventory. Control mechanical expenses within established budget and actively pursue cost reduction opportunities in labor, material cost and inventory balance of spare parts.
  • Establish and clearly communicate realistic job requirements for subordinates; provide frequent feedback and review on performance and accurately appraise performance results against communicated expectation.
  • Identify training needs for the team which will result in measurable performance improvements if pursued.
  • Provide timely and accurate performance information on all aspects of the maintenance operations at the plant within area of responsibility to include an explanation of all variances and actions taken to take to correct the situation.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety regulations and company policies.
  • Support foreign object prevention program and ensure compliance of product specifications and food safety. 
  • Enforce and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and complies with Regulatory Requirements and SQF System.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop and other work areas, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace. 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned. 

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and minimum 5-year experience in maintenance food manufacturing or related field, with at least 2 years in lead role
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprint, electrical, PLC, and mechanical schematics. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Use of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) along with the ability to use some mathematical formulas and calculations.
  • Strong knowledge of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to estimate the labor required to perform maintenance tasks, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Flexible schedule including weekends as needed.

Pay Range:

  • $105,000- $120,000 Based on Experience
