Aircraft Painter

Aerospace Coatings & Surface Preparation

Jacksonville, FL

We are seeking an Aircraft Painter – Aerospace Coatings & Surface Preparation to support aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, and refurbishment operations. This role is responsible for preparing aircraft surfaces, removing and applying aircraft paint coatings, primers, adhesives, sealants, and markings while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards and production requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare aircraft exterior surfaces for painting, coating, and finishing operations.
  • Remove existing paint coatings, adhesives, sealants, and surface contaminants using approved methods and materials.
  • Perform surface preparation activities including cleaning, masking, sanding, and inspection prior to paint application.
  • Apply primers, paints, coatings, and finishes to aircraft structures and components in accordance with engineering specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Create and utilize patterns and layouts for aircraft markings, decals, and exterior identification graphics.
  • Apply aircraft finishes, stencils, and external markings to aircraft assemblies and sections.
  • Inspect painted surfaces to verify quality, coverage, finish consistency, and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality procedures related to paint and coating operations.
  • Support aircraft production, modification, maintenance, and refurbishment activities as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship required by Federal Law.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of related aerospace, aviation, industrial painting, or manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience applying and removing aircraft paint coatings, adhesives, and sealants.
  • Experience preparing surfaces for paint application, including masking, sanding, cleaning, and finishing.
  • Knowledge of aircraft painting processes, materials, coatings, primers, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, technical documentation, and production specifications.
  • Experience using painting tools, spray equipment, and surface preparation equipment.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing, maintenance, or hangar environments while adhering to safety requirements.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, including vocational school or associate degree training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace, aviation, or military aircraft painting experience.
  • Experience with aircraft refinishing, depot maintenance, or aircraft modification programs.
  • Knowledge of aerospace coating systems and corrosion prevention processes.
  • Experience working in FAA-regulated, aerospace manufacturing, or defense industry environments.
