Job Summary: 

Responsible for voluntary in home services for children, parents and caregivers who are involved with the dependency system, including scheduled visits with all parties, family team meetings, written documentation of all contacts, development of safety and case plans; ongoing family functioning assessments and coordination of services from other agencies.

Education: Bachelor’s degree (in Counseling, Social Work, or related field) from an accredited college or university.

Experience: 6 months experience in counseling/case management preferred.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Meet training and certification requirements of a Child Welfare Case Manager.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage case load of 20 to 25 children. Subject to change based on distribution of cases to the Service Center Model.
  • Manage a caseload of children voluntary in home protective supervision/ services.
  • Responsible for engaging a child/family using a family empowerment approach to improve child safety and maintain and strengthen the family system..
  • Commitment to family preservation when safe to do so.
  • Conduct face-to-face contact with children, parents, and caregivers in home, community or school environment.
  • Observe and document home conditions and child’s behavior/feelings about the living situation.
  • Interact with family members and provide culturally competent services.
  • Conduct safety assessments regarding child’s living arrangement.
  • Provide conflict resolution and crisis intervention services to families.
  • Coordinate available community services, to include making referrals.
  • Provide education for family members about available services, parenting practices and the dependency system.
  • Complete documentation of all case activities in case file and in the Florida’s Safe Families Network.
  • Assist parents with Case Plan tasks (includes setting up appointments, providing transportation, etc.)
  • Provide monthly safety plan updates
  • Staff cases for any safety concerns and collaborate with the family and providers on case plan goals..
  • Produce initial safety plan which is updated every 30 days and complete termination summaries for all families.
  • Update Case Plans and family functioning assessments monthly.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Staff cases with Supervisor.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • Clear a local background check from Duval County and the County in which you reside.
  • Clear a drug screen.
  • Provide a copy of your educational attainment on your first day of employment.
  • Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check.
  • Provide proof of your auto insurance and maintain a minimum personal auto bodily injury liability insurance.
