Come join our team in the role of Regulatory Molecular Sciences Leader! This position provides scientific and strategic leadership supporting the product development pipeline for biotechnology and gene edited traits. With a broad understanding of regulatory molecular sciences, the role functions as a team leader of subject matter experts and represents molecular topics in global internal or external scientific and regulatory forums.Â
The position combines people leadership, technical leadership, regulatory strategy, and external industry engagement to ensure the successful development, characterization, detection, stewardship, and commercialization of Vylor products. The position will also work as a close liaison with other technical experts across a wide range of disciplines within Vylor, global regulatory affairs colleagues, industry associations and regulatory authorities across the globe. The role will also be a part of Global Regulatory Sciences (GRS) leadership team and contribute to strategy building, execution and people development in GRS team. What You’ll Do:
- Lead a team of experts in global regulatory science to develop methodologies, conduct studies, answer regulatory questions, and support all regulatory aspects of molecular sciences area for Vylor products
- Co-lead the development and execution of global regulatory strategies for molecular sciences team aligned with Vylor’s business objectives, guide the team through portfolio priorities balancing workload, and keep the focus on R&D innovation goals
- Provide guidance and support execution for development, validation and implementation of molecular characterization, detection methods, seed/tissue characterization work in accordance with regulatory requirements and scientific standards
- Lead molecular sciences advocacy with regulators to develop understanding of rapidly advancing technology, ensure regulatory requirements keep pace with technology developments and help shape regulatory framework.
- Function as a strategic and collaborative partner with external laboratories, research institutions, government agencies, and industry organizations
- Maintain updated knowledge of critical regulatory milestones and regulatory issues in molecular sciences for Vylor products. Accountable for delivering support on all molecular sciences questions for global regulatory colleagues.
- Foster a culture of innovation and monitor team performance through mentoring, coaching, and resource management. Provide feedback, recognize achievements, and communicate progress within the organization.
- Lead and coordinate subject-matter expert contributions across multiple R&D product teams in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Effectively utilizes organizational networking to influence decision making.
What Skills You Need:
- A Ph.D. or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Plant Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline with 10 years’ industry work experience in molecular sciences serving the agriculture industry or related regulated sector.
- Effective team leader with an ability to develop strategies to achieve team goals, resolve conflicts, monitor performance, and own accountability for delivery of regulatory goals.
- Established track record of successful interactions with multiple global jurisdictions and basic understanding of regulations pertaining to plant biotech products.
- Strong scientific background and critical thinking skills coupled with application of scientific principles for use in regulatory sciences and molecular sciences submissions
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities to manage and coordinate multiple projects of diverse nature. Good publication record and industry association leadership is a plus.
- Proven ability to communicate complex molecular science concepts clearly to diverse audiences and engage effectively with regulators and global colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong project management experience.
- Leadership through influence across diverse cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lead and drive changes as needed in a dynamic industry environment.
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices standards.
