Education: Graduate from an accredited program for medical assistants with one year in a medical office setting preferred.
If not a graduate from a medical assisting program, then three years of experience in a medical office setting is required.

Experience / Qualifications:
Medical Assistance Certification preferred
Knowledge of the outpatient practice of medicine.
Must have experience in medical assisting.
Knowledge of medical practice, patient care skills, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Must possess computer skills and customer service skills.
Capable of making sound decisions.
Detail oriented and self-motivated.

Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled specialist who assists the physician in all aspects of the medical practice under the direct responsibility of the physician. Responsibilities include assisting with the patient care management, executes administrative and clinical procedures and performs supervisory functions pertaining to position. Competency requires that the medical assistant adheres to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize, and respond to emergencies and demonstrates professional characteristics.
Vital signs
Preparing patients for examination
Entering lab and imaging orders
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
Updating patient medical records
Answering phones
Scheduling appointments
Removing sutures and dressings
Transmitting prescription refills
Performs other duties as assigned.
