JOB DESCRIPTION – OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (Paediatrics)
1. Role Summary
The Occupational Therapist will assess, plan, and implement therapy programs for children with
neurodevelopmental disorders. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to improve
functional independence, sensory processing, fine motor skills, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
2. Cases Handled
Children with conditions such as Developmental Delay, GDD, ASD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Down
Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, Genetic Disorders, Muscular Dystrophy, Sensory Processing
Disorder, neuromotor disorders, feeding and ADL difficulties, and other special needs.
3. Assessment Responsibilities
  • Conduct case history and clinical observation
  • Assess motor skills, sensory processing, ADLs, and functional abilities
  • Evaluate hand function, coordination, and school readiness
  • Use standardized tools (sensory profile, ADL scales, developmental screening, etc.)
  • Maintain proper documentation
4. Intervention Responsibilities
  •  Sensory Integration: Regulation, hyper/hypoactivity management
  •  Fine Motor Training: Hand strength, coordination, handwriting readiness
  •  ADL Training: Feeding, dressing, toileting, grooming, independence
  • Functional Training: Posture, play skills, school readiness
  •  Behaviour Support: Improve attention, sitting tolerance, participation
  •  Assistive Support: Recommend and guide use of adaptive devices
5. Multidisciplinary Coordination
  •  Collaborate with doctors, therapists, psychologists, and educators
  •  Participate in case discussions, goal setting, and team meetings
  •  Provide regular progress updates
6. Parent Guidance
  • Educate and counsel parents
  • Demonstrate home programs and sensory plans
  • Provide emotional and functional support
7. Documentation
       Maintain assessment reports, therapy notes, progress reports, and attendance records
8. Additional Responsibilities
  •  Participate in group sessions, awareness programs, and outreach activities
  • Follow professional ethics and organizational protocols
9. Qualification
  •  BOT / MOT (Bachelor’s or Master’s in Occupational Therapy)
  •  Valid registration with a recognized council
