We are looking for an experienced and highly organized HR Operations Officer to join our Kano operations and support the implementation of People & Culture initiatives while partnering with business operations to deliver exceptional employee and workplace administration.

Job Purpose

The HR Operations Officer will serve as the People & Culture representative within the assigned business unit, ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies, employee lifecycle processes, attendance administration, facilities management, fleet coordination, workplace compliance, and administrative operations.

The successful candidate will also provide operational support to the Project Lead (Business Manager) to ensure smooth day-to-day business operations within the business unit.

Key Responsibilities

1. Human Resources Operations

  • Coordinate recruitment, interview scheduling, onboarding, and induction activities.
  • Maintain accurate employee personnel records and confidential HR documentation.
  • Administer probation, confirmation, employee movement, and exit processes.
  • Support implementation of the Abans Employee Handbook & Policy Manual.
  • Coordinate employee engagement and welfare initiatives.
  • Handle employee grievances and disciplinary documentation.

2. Attendance, Leave & Payroll Administration

  • Monitor daily attendance and timekeeping records.
  • Manage attendance exceptions, lateness notices, and absence documentation.
  • Review and process leave applications through Zoho Qntrl.
  • Prepare monthly attendance reports for payroll processing.
  • Maintain leave balances and attendance registers.

3. Office & Administrative Operations

  • Manage office administration and daily workplace operations.
  • Coordinate office maintenance, utilities, cleaning services, and repairs.
  • Supervise janitors, drivers, and security personnel assigned to the office.
  • Coordinate visitors, meeting logistics, accommodation, and travel arrangements.
  • Maintain office asset and inventory records.

4. Facilities & Fleet Management

  • Coordinate company vehicle scheduling and utilization.
  • Administer vehicle requests.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance, servicing, insurance, and registration records.
  • Monitor fuel usage and driver assignments.
  • Conduct routine facility and workplace inspections.

5. Business Operations Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Project Lead (Business Manager).
  • Coordinate staff deployment and operational logistics.
  • Prepare operational reports and documentation.
  • Assist in coordinating business unit projects and operational activities.

6. Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and SOPs.
  • Maintain HR dashboards and operational reports.
  • Coordinate documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
  • Submit weekly and monthly People & Culture reports to the Head People & Culture / Administration.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following (or a closely related discipline):

  • Human Resource Management
  • Personnel Management
  • Industrial Relations
  • Business Administration
  • Public Administration
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Any other related Social Science discipline

Experience

Minimum 2–3 years proven experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or Administration.

Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, food processing, logistics, agriculture, or a corporate environment is an advantage.

  • Residence within Fagge LGA or Kano Municipal (KMC) is strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Fluency in Hausa is a significant advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience using HRIS or workflow management software (Zoho experience is an advantage).
  • Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
Added Advantages

Candidates with any of the following will have an added advantage:

  • Possession of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) certification, in view or any recognized HR certification.
  • Experience with Zoho Recruit, Zoho People, Zoho Qntrl, or other HR systems.
  • Experience in facilities management or fleet administration.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders across business operations.
