Job Description

In accordance with the agency’s mission, vision, values and goals, the Recovery Technician serves as support staff who 
monitors residents while the residents achieve treatment in a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment during their 
residency at the facility. The Recovery Technician will interact with residents, co-workers, HCBC's team members and 
vendors daily demonstrating self-initiative, professionalism, and positive leadership at a residential facility. The Recovery 
Technician must be alert and have solid observation skills to report and document the resident's activities and any change 
of behavior. The Recovery Technician must be able to work under supervision and make good sound decisions without 
detailed instructions.

SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL PAY FOR 1ST, 3rd, AND WEEKEND SHIFTS

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Work may include, but is not limited to the following examples:

  1. Provides direct support/monitoring and develops supportive therapeutic relationship with residents in order to meet treatment plan goals in accordance with the policies of the facility and as agreed upon by the individual resident.
  1. Monitors and intervenes with clients at all times and ensures appropriate/acceptable behaviors are exhibited; physical and emotional security is assured.
  1. Assists in the process of client admissions as outlined by Supervisor, or Lead Recovery Technician, and per the needs of the assigned program.
  1. Monitors service delivery and necessary follow-up to include client verification of employment, release plan and pass sites as necessary.
  1. Monitors, records, and reports resident participation, progress, and adjustment in achieving goals
  1. Participates in and meets ethical standards regarding all treatment and documentation practices, Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement procedures, utilization management, and program/client outcomes.
  1. Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/procedures 100% of the time.
  1. Performs other related work, as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge of substance use disorders
  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of human behavior, attitudes, and motivation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skill in resolving conflicts and negotiating with others
  • Skill in developing positive and productive participant relationships
  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate, legible, organized records, and to prepare timely reports
  • Ability to plan and organize working time effectively and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with persons from diverse cultures and backgrounds and to respect individual differences
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately

 EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

The following education and experience qualifications are the minimum requirement used to admit or reject applicants for consideration.

  1. Possession of a high school diploma, equivalency or life experience equivalency
  2. A minimum of one year experience in working with clients with severe mental illness
  3. Licensure Certification, Registration: Medication Aide, CPR, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Peer Support Specialist

Qualifying experience must include some combination of the following:

  • Providing one-on-one or group services with a rehabilitation/habilitation and recovery/resiliency focus;
  • Any certified CNA work
  • Lived experience with substance use or recovery, PSS
  • Supporting efforts to find and maintain employment for individuals and/or to function appropriately in families, school and communities;
  • Assisted individuals to achieve the goals and objectives on their individualized treatment or person centered plans.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • All candidates will be required to submit to a background screening. No candidate may be considered for employment who is under the supervision of the Federal, State, County or Municipal Corrections Department nor have any pending felony or misdemeanor charges other than minor traffic charges.
  • All candidates for employment must meet the established minimum qualifications for employment as identified by the applicable regulatory agencies.

This position is classified as at-will, meaning employment may be ended by either party at any time, with or without cause or notice, as allowed by law.
