Job Title: Out of School Time Group Assistant                             Pay Grade: 1                                      

FLSA Status: Part-time-Non-Exempt-Seasonal                            Pay Range: $12.57-$15.71-$18.85

  


POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, Build members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact.? 

This position provides direct supervision to a group of children in a school-age setting. Provides positive engagement to youth in a safe, nurturing environment. Provides quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responding to all members and community inquiries promptly. 
  2. Supervises a group of youth grades K-5. 
  3. Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally proper, and consistent with YMCA values. 
  4. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. 
  5. Attend staff meetings, training, and unique events. (family nights or YMCA events) 
  6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies. 
  7. Builds and supports positive, culturally aware relationships with parents, youth participants, and other staff. Models' relationship-building skills in all interactions. 
  8. Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration. 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least 16 years of age 
  2. Must pass a background check (if applicable) 
  3. Prior experience working with school age Children is preferred. 
  4. Behavior Management experience within a School, Childcare, Camp setting or parenthood is preferred. 
  5. Effective verbal communication skills 
  6. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse Prevention training with the first 30 days of hire. 
  7. Completed health form within the first 30 days of hire.
