Key Responsibilities
As a Bus Aide, you help ensure students—especially those with special transportation needs—travel safely and comfortably to and from school by supporting a calm, safe, and respectful environment on every route. You assist students with boarding, riding, and exiting the bus, support daily routes alongside the driver, transport(drive) students in a district minivan or SUV, communicate with staff as directed, and participate in paid training while following all safety procedures.Â
Qualifications
Ideal candidates are dependable, safety-minded professionals who bring patience, calm decision-making, and strong communication skills to every student ride.Â
High school diploma or GED required
Valid Maine Driver’s License
Clean driving record
Must pass an employer provided physical exam
Must pass employer provided drug testing
Must pass Maine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC)
Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
Reports To:Â Transportation Manager
Hours:Â School-year position. Schedule and weekly hours discussed during hiring.
Terms of Employment:Â Per TEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and RSU 21 Board policies.
Evaluation:Â Annual evaluation by Transportation Manager.
