Job DetailsJob Location: Kenosha Campus - Kenosha, WI 53142Position Type: InternshipHow you’ll impact our mission: The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a Veterinary Assistant Intern for a fall/winter internship at our Kenosha Campus! This is an unpaid, seasonal internship scheduled up to 30 hours per week. This internship is ideal for those interested in veterinary or shelter medicine fields and provides the opportunity to assist our veterinary staff with a variety of duties and gain valuable experience. Interns are responsible for their own transportation and living arrangements. Key accountabilities: Preparing and/or administering animal treatments Assisting with surgery preparation and surgical recovery Assisting with the movement of patients, recovery of patients, and general flow Cleaning of veterinary clinic and exam rooms Assisting with foster animal exams and rechecks Qualifications:  Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.   Highly motivated, enthusiastic self-starter with a professional attitude Demonstrated alignment with our mission, people-centered philosophy, and organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness; innovation; professionalism; equity; and positive approach Ability to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work Come see why over 280 staff call WHS home!
