Responsibilities & Requirements
The Processing Tech I supports patient safety and quality care by performing essential tasks in the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures all instruments are processed according to established infection control and regulatory standards, contributing to reliable operations and positive patient outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Responsibilities
- Performs decontamination on instruments, equipment, and other items as needed.
- Sorts and cleans instruments and equipment by hand and/or washer/disinfectant.
- Assembles, wraps, and packages instruments, instrument trays, and supplies.
- Sterilizes instruments and supplies using STERRAD, steam and ethylene oxide gas sterilizers as trained.
- “Picks” instruments, instrument trays, supplies, in a timely matter for surgery.
- Performs basic computer functions using a Windows based system as needed
Qualifications
Applicants Must Have:
- HS Diploma or GED
- Certification required within 12 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer Applicants Have:
- Previous related experience and certification strongly preferred.
