Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher at St. Gerard Majella Catholic School provides instructional continuity in the absence of the regular classroom teacher by maintaining a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment. This role ensures that lesson plans are followed, student behavior is managed effectively, and academic progress continues while upholding the school’s values and expectations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher to ensure continuity of instruction
  • Maintain a positive, orderly, and respectful classroom environment
  • Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and other school settings
  • Adapt instruction as needed to meet student needs during the school day
  • Address behavioral issues in accordance with school policies
  • Communicate important information and classroom updates to the regular teacher
  • Ensure student safety and well-being at all times
  • Support school policies, procedures, and Catholic values

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college coursework or degree in education preferred
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
