Are you seeking a meaningful way to expand your experience while supporting younger students in a structured environment? CAK is hiring Aftercare Workers to join our dedicated after-school team for the 2025-2026 school year. In this role, you'll help students unwind, socialize, and complete assignments in a setting that values care, consistency, and community.


This part-time opportunity is ideal for high school juniors/seniors or college students interested in education, child development, or community service. Requirements


The Aftercare Worker plays an essential role in supporting students and upholding the mission of CAK. Candidates should demonstrate dependability, professionalism, and a positive, Christ-like attitude in all interactions.


General Qualifications

  • Represent CAK with integrity; adhere to professional expectations outlined in the CAK Employee Handbook
  • Reliable and punctual with strong communication skills
  • Must pass TBI/FBI background check prior to employment (over 18)
  • Familiarity with CAK’s mission, values, and daily operations
  • Able to work cooperatively with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students, and the broader CAK community
  • Flexible and responsive when unexpected tasks arise

Role Expectations

  • Provide early care for Warrior Wednesday as part of assigned duties
  • Maintain appropriate behavior management for assigned student groups
  • Take initiative to support program needs without prompting
  • Request time off in advance; avoid last-minute absences except in cases of illness
  • Demonstrate a Christ-like demeanor in all professional responsibilities
  • Share duties equally among staff; note that high school aides are not permitted to supervise students alone

Responsibilities to Students

  • Ensure active and appropriate supervision at all times
  • Engage positively with students through play and learning activities (e.g., homework help, Bible verses)
  • Monitor student interactions and maintain awareness of activities
  • Account for all students during transitions between locations
  • Enforce playground safety by maintaining supervision zones where all children are visible to an adult
  • Report injuries or incidents promptly to the Aftercare Director
  • Reinforce good behavior through praise and encouragement
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family matters

Responsibilities to the School

  • Complete assigned Safe Schools training and provide documentation
  • Adhere to timekeeping procedures, including clock-in/out protocols
  • Follow CAK’s bloodborne pathogen guidelines and hygiene standards
  • Apply age-appropriate, respectful discipline techniques
  • Understand and follow emergency response plans, including drills for fire, severe weather, and lockdown situations
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Aftercare Director

The Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) employee must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the school's mission and philosophy. The employee must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity and the academic and leadership abilities necessary to teach God's truth. Skills in effective communication with diverse individuals, the ability to handle confidential information appropriately, and maintaining a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
