About the Position
HAVE Support, Inc. is seeking dependable, compassionate, and experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one Personal Supports to an adult with developmental disabilities in a private home.
The ideal candidate is patient, respectful, reliable, and committed to helping individuals maintain independence, participate in their communities, and achieve their personal goals.
Important: The participant's home has cats. Applicants must be comfortable working in a home with cats and should not have allergies that would prevent them from safely performing their duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized, one-on-one assistance with daily living activities and personal care, as needed.
- Support independence with dressing, grooming, hygiene, meals, and household routines.
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining an organized living environment.
- Plan and participate in meaningful daily activities based on the individual's interests and preferences.
- Accompany the individual on community outings, recreational activities, shopping trips, and appointments.
- Assist with mobility, accessibility, and safe transfers when required and appropriately trained.
- Support communication, personal choices, and independence.
- Provide transportation or accompany the individual using available accessible transportation, as authorized.
- Follow the individual's Person-Centered Plan (PCP), support instructions, and safety procedures.
- Complete accurate daily service documentation and report concerns promptly.
- Communicate professionally with the participant, family, supervisor, and support team.
- Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and professional boundaries.
- Arrive on time, follow assigned schedules, and communicate promptly regarding absences or coverage needs.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.
- Experience providing in-home Personal Supports or similar direct care preferred.
- Experience assisting individuals with mobility limitations or wheelchair accessibility needs is a plus.
- Ability to provide respectful, person-centered support.
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable transportation and ability to report to scheduled shifts.
- Ability to meet Maryland DDA training, background screening, and employment requirements.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Comfortable working in a private residence with cats.
