MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Job Summary:

Embarq Solutions is seeking an experienced General Maintenance Mechanic. They will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and conducting minor repairs to the building and equipment. They will perform a variety of semiskilled duties to include, but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, electrical and painting and they will work at the direction of the Chief Engineer, Lead Engineer, and Project Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• HVAC Systems: Installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Plumbing: Fixing leaks, unclogging drains, maintaining water systems, and ensuring that plumbing fixtures function correctly.
• Electrical Systems: Troubleshooting electrical issues, repairing lighting, outlets, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
• Elevators & Escalators: Ensuring that vertical transportation systems, such as elevators and escalators, are in proper working order.
• General Building Repairs: Fixing doors, windows, floors, ceilings, and walls, including tasks like patching holes or repairing locks.
• Painting & Carpentry: Performing painting tasks and repairing woodwork, such as doors, frames, and trim.
• Safety Systems: Inspecting and maintaining fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and other safety equipment to ensure they meet local regulations.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conducting regular inspections and proactive maintenance to identify potential issues before they cause major problems.
• General Troubleshooting: Diagnosing problems with building systems and determining appropriate solutions to ensure operations continue efficiently.

Work Environment:

Building maintenance mechanics typically work indoors but may have to go outside for tasks such as rooftop maintenance or outdoor electrical system repairs. They may work on their own or as part of a maintenance team, and their schedules can vary depending on the size of the building and the complexity of the systems they are maintaining.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Mechanical and Electrical Knowledge: Understanding how various systems work and how to repair or maintain them.
• Problem-Solving: The ability to troubleshoot complex issues with building systems.
• Safety Protocols: Knowledge of safety regulations and practices to avoid accidents while performing maintenance work.
• Attention to Detail: Identifying minor issues before they become bigger problems

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED, at least 3-5 years of experience

· Must pass a background check and able to obtain an HSPD12 clearance.

• Possess basic knowledge of hand tools.
• Able to read and understand user/service manuals written in English.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods standing.

· Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift to 50 pounds at a time.

· Capable of working in a physically demanding environment indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

· Employees will work on-site where the job assignment is and can be exposed to all weather conditions. In addition, employees will work alongside all types of equipment and could be exposed to fumes, dust, and particles. Proper PPE is required. The employee is expected to be able to walk, sit, stand, climb stairs/steps, bend, kneel, stoop, have responsible eyesight, range of motion, hearing and feeling in hands and fingers. Employees will at times be required to use hand tools and various pieces of equipment. Noise levels vary and can become very loud. Employees are required to have the physical stamina to perform under these conditions, as well as other conditions not listed here. An approved uniform must be worn daily - complete with company logo and employee name.
