Position Summary:聽
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, responsible for providing support to nursing staff and assisting in the delivery of patient care following hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:聽
1.聽聽聽聽聽 Provides routine patient care services such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance.
2.聽聽聽聽聽 Collects, records, and reports various patient data. Obtains vital signs, blood glucose levels, bedside pregnancy testing, and reports changes in patient data to registered nurse.
聽 聽 聽 聽3. 聽聽聽聽Performs foley catheterization for both male and female patients, uses bladder scanner for patients to estimate bladder contents. Administers enemas as聽 聽 聽 聽directed. Collects and transports specimen.聽 Documents.
4.聽聽聽聽聽 Performs specific orthopedic procedures such as placement and fitting of splints, immobilizers, supports, slings, wraps and crutches, and provides instruction.聽 Obtains, and documents correctly, paperwork in appropriate paperwork.
5.聽聽聽聽聽 Performs electrocardiogram, gives copy to Emergency physician and transmits for interpretation.聽 Places patient on cardiac monitor as needed.聽
6.聽聽聽聽聽 Performs general unit support activities such as postmortem care, cleaning of rooms and areas, running errands, making deliveries, and restocking.
7.聽聽聽聽聽 Performs decontamination procedures and other decontamination activities.聽
8.聽聽聽聽聽 Sets up of suture trays, instruments and other equipment.
9.聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in emergencies; CPR, spiking IVs, slaving monitors.聽 Setting up for pacing/defibrillation and assisting with intubation, suction and airway management.
10.聽 Performs other related responsibilities as necessary.
Required:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 High school graduate or equivalent.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Specialized education requirements include:
o聽聽 acute care nursing assistant course preferred for acute care positions or
o聽聽 long term care nursing assistant course or
o聽聽 completion of an emergency medical technician program or
o聽聽 completion of medical assistant program or
o聽聽 completion of a clinical rotation while participating in an accredited nursing program or
o聽聽 completion of medical training in a branch or the armed services
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Recent patient care experience in acute care setting as nursing assistant, EMT, completion of a clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program, or completion of the US Armed Services medic program.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
Preferred:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Emergency Department experience.
