JOB TITLE:  

Reproduction/Genetics Lab Assistant (Animal Science)

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION: 

Animal Science Department.

Job location: Animal Science Building

Pay rate or range: $15/hr.

JOB PURPOSE:   

Assist with maintenance of the Reproduction/Genetics Laboratory, research projects, and various laboratory processes   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsible for keeping the laboratory clean and organized, assist with equipment maintenance and safety practices, maintain inventory, and other duties as assigned. Interested individuals can be involved in sample collection and processing in various research projects.  

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • other duties as assigned by supervisor   

COMPETENCIES: 

  • reliable, responsible and on-time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Currently enrolled student at UW.

Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.   

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

Lab experience

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPLICABLE TO CAREERS: 

This position is beneficial to a number of careers, specifically STEM majors. Students will learn how to operate and maintain a lab, as well as learn various sampling and processing techniques for samples.

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
