Sonic Summary

info
  • Robson Forensic is seeking a Ph.D. holder in an engineering discipline with bioengineering or biomechanics experience to become a forensic expert.
  • Candidates will analyze incidents involving injuries or fatalities, applying engineering principles to determine the cause of injuries.
  • The position requires excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills, with no prior forensic experience necessary.
  • This role offers a salary of $85,000 to $110,000, depending on experience, and involves approximately 20% travel for training.
  • The job is based in Las Vegas, NV, or Irving, TX, and emphasizes collaboration and mentoring within a team of over 100 professionals.

You are already an expert. Robson Forensic will train you to be a forensic expert.

You have a Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline and Bioengineering/Biomechanics experience involving human body kinematics and kinetics or injury research. This role asks you to bring that same set of skills to a different challenge: determining how and why an injury occurred from an engineering standpoint. You will work alongside nationally respected experts on casework that is consequential to industry and society, and you will keep learning for the rest of your career.

Prior forensic experience is not required. We hire for deep industry knowledge and teach the rest.

What you will do:

  • Apply scientific and engineering principles of bioengineering and biomechanics to investigate incidents involving claimed injuries/fatalities due to an event.
  • Analyze and evaluate the technical and scientific aspects of incidents, injuries, and medical device failures.
  • Write clear, scientifically sound reports.
  • Provide expert testimony.

You will analyze the forces and motions involved to figure out if the alleged injuries are consistent with the event. Areas of investigation include injury biomechanics/orthopedic biomechanics applied to events such as vehicle collisions, sports & recreation, occupation, assaults, falls, etc.

It is extremely challenging work, but also an intellectually thrilling and rewarding experience.

What we require:

  • Education: Ph.D. in an engineering discipline & a B.S. in Engineering from an ABET-accredited University
  • Experience: Bioengineering/biomechanics experience involving human body kinematics and kinetics or injury research
  • Skills: Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Aptitude: Strong ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, objective evidence for non-technical audiences.
  • Other: A clean background screen, a driver’s license, and the ability to drive.

Experience that helps, though not required:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) research

Work style:

Approximately 20% of the role is travel for training. The remainder is analysis and report writing, working independently and as part of a collaborative team. Our experts offer and receive support/mentoring in a firm with over 100 scientists, engineers, and other professionals and manage a portfolio of 50-70 projects/clients.

Locations: Las Vegas, NV & Irving, TX (hybrid)
