•        Set up new employees in the HRIS and payroll system accurately and before their first payroll
•        Process separations, including final pay within state deadlines, COBRA and benefits-termination notices, property recovery, and system access removal
•        Partner with Talent Acquisition to keep new-hire records complete from offer through first payroll
Verifications & Records
•        Respond to employment and income verification requests from lenders, agencies, and other authorized parties within established turnaround times
•        Maintain accurate, audit-ready personnel and payroll records
•        Support workers' compensation, 401(k), and financial audits with required data and reports
Qualifications & Experience
•        3–5+ years of hands-on payroll and HR operations experience, including at least 2 years processing multistate payroll and employment-tax filings
•        Direct experience responding to unemployment claims and processing garnishments from receipt through remittance
•        Strong working knowledge of state unemployment insurance programs, Form I-9 and E-Verify, and state final-pay and leave requirements
•        Proficiency in a major payroll/HRIS platform (Paychex Flex or equivalent) and in Excel (PivotTables, lookups)
•        Experience in a multi-site retail, hospitality, convenience-store, or food-service environment with hourly and tipped workforces preferred
•        Familiarity with an applicant tracking system (Workable or similar) and with benefits, 401(k), and workers' compensation administration is a plus
Education
•        High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred
•        FPC or CPP (PayrollOrg), SHRM-CP, or PHR certification is a plus
Required Skills & Competencies
•        Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
•        Ability to meet fixed payroll and filing deadlines without exception
•        Discretion with confidential employee and compensation information
•        Clear written and verbal communication with employees, managers, and agency representatives
•        Proven ability to work independently as the sole owner of these functions
What We Offer
•        Competitive base salary
•        Full benefits offered
•        A direct hand in building the HR and payroll backbone of a high-growth, multistate company
