Position Summary

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for general maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, grounds, painting, and irrigation repair.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts trash pickup.
  • Prepares vacant units, paints, and conducts drywall repair.
  • Conducts filter changes, annual fire extinguisher replacement, and pest control.
  • Installs doors, cabinets, countertops, light fixtures, flooring, irrigation valves, toilets, appliances, lock changes, and critical control.
  • Receives deliveries.
  • Prepares supply orders.
  • Conducts posting of notices and flyers.
  • Manages inventory parts. 
  • Responds to emergency calls during working hours, as assigned.


This position is eligible to participate in the collective bargaining unit (SEIU), which represents certain Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority employees.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications help identify candidates most likely to perform successfully in the role. Applicants should demonstrate the following: 


Education, training, and work experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in residential building and/or facilities maintenance.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in the following areas: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, grounds, painting, and irrigation repair.



Physical Ability:

This job requires continuous standing, talking or hearing; continuous walking; continuous reaching with hands and arms; continuous gripping or feeling with hands; continuous stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; continuous climbing or balancing; occasional sitting. It is frequently required to lift 50 pounds.
