WHAT YOU’LL DO

The primary responsibility of the Apprentice Bartender is to assist the Bartender in maintaining the appearance by stocking, keeping the bar area clean and organized. The Apprentice is also responsible for performing tasks to assist the Bartender providing excellent service to all guests who approach the bar and other various duties in timely manner.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acknowledges, greets, and converses with customers who approach the bar.

  • Cleans and stock bar area, including bar tops, sinks, glasses, refrigerators, and other bar appliances throughout and at the end of the shift.

  • When needed, prepare, and pour all types of drinks for customers and cocktail servers upon request.

  • Processes room charges, credit card and cash transactions while presenting customer with bar receipt.

  • Ensures ashtrays, bar top, bar stools and bar menus are clean and organized.

  • Cut fruits and prepare garnishes for each open well.

  • Maintain clean work environment in accordance with SNHD guidelines.

  • Maintain par levels by placing orders, as necessary.

  • Change and clean bibs behind the bars when needed.

  • Make sure the glasswasher is working properly and keep it clean during and prior to the end of the shift. Check dishwasher for proper chemical maintenance.

  • Maintain soap and paper towels in the hand sinks.

  • Continuously monitoring bar to ensure that guests are receiving beverage service on a timely matter.

  • Calls a designated slot employee when needed by a guest or bartender.

  • Collects all trash from their assigned bar as well wiping down walls behind it.

  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 21 years of age.

  • Must have knowledge of beverages, glassware, and garnishes.

  • Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.

  • Must present a neat and professional appearance.

  • Work requires 6 months prior Bartender or Bar Apprentice experience.

  • Work requires at least 1-year previous money handling position.

  • Work requires interactions with customers, the public and co-workers.

  • Work requires teamwork with other staff members.

  • Work requires the ability to accurately count money and provide change.

  • Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

  • Adhere to all company policies, regulatory and federal laws.

PREFERRED

  • Work requires at least 6 months of previous Bar Apprentice / Barback experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations, such as: TAM card, health card, and non-gaming card.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.

  • Must be accurate and detail oriented.

  • Must regularly lift and/move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as noise, dust, and smoke.
