About the RoleÂ
The Water Meter Installerreports to the Smart Meter Deployment Operations Manager at Bermex. This position plays a key role in water meter maintenance and measurement. This position also requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.Â
What You'll Do
Water Meter Maintenance:Â
Perform visual inspections of water service for leaksÂ
Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordinglyÂ
Properly change out water meters of varying sizes and brandsÂ
Properly change out water meter registers for AMI/AMR upgradeÂ
Water Meter Reading:Â
Readwater metersÂ
Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computerÂ
Assiston additional projects, as necessary Â
Customer Communication:Â
Refer all consumer complaints to the appropriate authoritiesÂ
Provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicableÂ
Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicateÂ
Other duties as assigned.Â
About YouÂ
Must Haves:Â
Education: None. Must be 18 years of age or older rÂ
Experience: No experience necessary, employees will be trained.Valid driver's license is requiredÂ
Nice to Have:Â
Education:High School Diploma or GEDÂ
Experience: 1 or more years of experience in the direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes; 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months workingÂ
Your Skills:Â
Ability to multi-task, and work independently and as a teamÂ
Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling. Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends.Â
Adequate time management skills to finish daily meter reads in a timely manner, figuring out an efficient way to read meters for that dayÂ
Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customersÂ
Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional mannerÂ
Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and findingÂ
Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly Â
Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programsÂ
Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational proceduresÂ
Basic knowledge of GIS systems and principles is requiredÂ
