Description

Primary Purpose: The basketball cheer coach oversees the cheer program at Gehlen Catholic. They are responsible for organizing the basketball cheerleaders during the basketball season.

Essential Functions

Train and supervise students in the use of:
- Practice
- Games
Teach the cheerleaders the school fight song and the cheers to be performed during basketball games and pep rallies.
Communicate with players and parents
Attend all basketball games, home and away (Boys and Girls)
Work with the Athletic Director closely on scheduling and transportation.
Follow the rules and policies set forth by Gehlen Catholic for eligibility requirements.
Know and follow all rules and regulations from the ICCA.
Uphold the values of our Catholic faith while leading their players.

Requirements

Must hold a valid Iowa coaching certification or license.
Complete Virtus training
Completed background checks
CPR-trained preferred but not required
Knowledge of cheerleading from previous experiences via performing or coaching
