What we need:

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Natural Resources Technician 3 within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Caesar Creek State Park in Warren County.  The address is 8570 East SR 73, Waynesville, Ohio 45068.  Hours are 7AM-3:30PM (subject to change based on operational need) and will include some nights, weekends and holidays.  To learn more about the Ohio Department of Natural Resources please visit Caesar Creek State Park | Ohio Department of Natural Resources. 

What you will do…

  • Acts as lead maintenance worker, utilizing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and equipment operation skills;
  • Maintains park facilities and grounds;
  • Maintains a variety of park equipment and vehicles;
  • Applies chemicals (e.g., insecticides, fertilizers) as commercial applicator to lawns, weeds, shrubs, trees & invasive species;
  • Operates boats to move/set buoys, perform flood debris clean up, and repair docks;
  • Interacts daily with a variety of customers who utilize the park & watercraft facilities.
  • Starting hourly pay $22.60/hr. with multiple pay increases over your first 5 years of service, with an end salary of $25.77/hr.
  • There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. For more details, refer to the OCSEA pay range schedule & longevity rates OCSEA Employees | Department of Administrative Services.
     

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT Pesticide applicator license as issued by Department of Agriculture required if applying chemicals regulated by law within one year of hire; positions operating watercraft must complete boat operator education course per Ohio Revised Code 1547.05. 

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS May be exposed to dirt, dust, fumes & noise; may be exposed to chemical spray; may work in or near water; may work evenings, weekends &/or holidays; works outside & may be exposed to inclement weather; may be exposed to dangerous machinery; unpleasant odors, human & animal waste, outdoor elements (e.g., animals, insects, poison ivy).



12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in safety practices; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in use of shop, hand & power tools & light equipment; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in carpentry, electrical repair & plumbing; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in equipment operation, maintenance & repair (e.g., tractors with attachments); valid driver's license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
