About the Role

As a Litigation Attorney, you will manage a portfolio of mortgage default, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and creditors' rights matters while partnering with clients and internal teams to achieve successful outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex legal issues, advocate on behalf of clients, and contribute to the continued success of a nationally recognized law firm.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a caseload of default-related litigation matters.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal correspondence.
  • Appear at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings.
  • Develop litigation strategies and provide legal analysis and recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case status, legal developments, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and operations teams to drive efficient and successful outcomes.
  • Perform legal research and stay current on developments impacting creditors' rights and mortgage default litigation.

Qualifications

Required

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing in Michigan, Maryland, the District of Columbia, or Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong legal writing, research, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and business partners.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to practicing law.
  • No disciplinary actions by any state bar association within the past five years.

Preferred

  • Experience in mortgage default, foreclosure, bankruptcy, creditors' rights, real estate, or related litigation.
  • Admission in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Trial, mediation, and evidentiary hearing experience.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations affecting mortgage servicing and creditors' rights.
