Job DetailsJob Location: Lemont Park District - Lemont, IL 60439Position Type: Seasonal Part - TimeSalary Range: $16.00 - $21.16 HourlyJob Category: Seasonal OnlyCome work with the Lemont Park District as a Flag Football Referee. The primary function of this seasonal position is to enforce the rules of flag football while creating a positive, fun, and safe game atmosphere while encouraging sportsmanship with the participants. All games are held on Sundays and the ability to work multiple games in a row is required. The 2026 season is scheduled to run from after Labor Day to Mid-November. Make up games may require the season to be extended. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Perform the role of an official to monitor play, oversee the safety of players and ensure rules are followed. Arrive on time for all games when assigned to make certain games run on a schedule. Wear the appropriate uniform as required to support position as a referee. Appropriately use a whistle during games. Document any required game records and report to Site Coordinator or Program Manager. Move about the field to keep up with play to make appropriate and consistent calls. Demonstrate that Safe, Fair, and Fun are priorities at the park. Exhibit positive public relations. Inspect equipment and report any damage or need for replacement to the Program Manager. Clock in upon arrival to the job site and clock out before vacating job site. Complete all assigned district training. Ensure that all participants stay safe by educating them on safe practices and District policies, procedures and guidelines are followed. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Applicants must be 16 years of age or older in compliance with Illinois Child Labor Laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Requires strong people and customer service skills and able to communicate effectively with staff and the public. Any combination of experience and education provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to officiate youth flag football. Ability to work independently. First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire. Work Environment: Work will take place outdoors in various seasons. Employees must have the ability to run back and forth the length of the field. The employee must possess the visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations, and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
